Leona Lewis Video - Her First Audition on X Factor 2006!

This is where it all started for the mousey quiet Leona Lewis on England's X Factor! She was trying in the music business before her auditions, and it was her boyfriend who persuaded her to actually try out for the X Factor. We're glad he did, because we all know what happened next! So, here's Leona Lewis singing 'Over The Rainbow'.

Leona's Second X Factor Audition!

Leona sailed through her first audition, and here we see a tearful Leona missing her family, proving she's not the usual Diva! Singing Mariah Carey's cover hit 'Without You', was it enough to get her through to the real X Factor audition shows? Of course it was. We think you can see the ££ and $$ in Simon Cowell's eyes already!

Leona X Factor Week 1 - I'll Be There (Motown Week)

The first big audition show with the spruced up Leona looking completely different from her earlier auditions! Giving it 110%, Leona belts out an early Mariah track. Do we spot a theme here?

Leona and X Factor - Week 2 - The First Cut Is The Deepest (Rod Stewart Week)

Smashing her way through the auditions, Leona sings a soul version of 'The First Cut Is The Deepest', and does a pretty darn good job at it! Great microphone technique too! I tell you, this girl is going places!

Summer Time - Leona Sings Live (Big Band Week)

Lovely Leona slinks her way through this song, singing the beautiful song 'Summertime'. This soulful, jazzy, "heartful" version just suits the bare-footed Leona to a tee, and with artists like Christina Aguilera bringing the 30's jazz styles back in to pop, this makes for a modern take on a great song. Speaking of Christina, we think Leona's voice could give her a run for her money! Simon Cowell said after watching Leona blow the roof off with performance, he could see her transform into a superstar!

Leona Lewis Sings Abba's Chiquita (Abba Week)

Leona adds her delicate touch to one of Abba's biggest hits, the 1979 hit song 'Chiquita' (which means 'little girl' in Spanish). After belting it out, she was clearly straight through to the next round!

Short Leona Lewis Interview, and Leona Sings Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

The great thing about X Factor was how we got to see Leona not change one bit! The shy girl was continually modest throughout the series! Singing a soulful "What Have I Got To Do?", she sails through to the next round!

Simon Cowell gives his verdict of Leona, as Leona sings Bridge Over Troubled Water

Being the only female left from now on in the knock-out rounds of the X Factor, Leona has to stand her ground! After Simon gets all deep and worried, Leona gets to meet West Life, and then sings Bridge Over Troubled Water. Did she get knocked out only to come back later? Of course she didn't!

Leona Sings Lady Marmalade

Leona tries to belt out the classic Lady Marmalade, a fairly modern hit thanks to the brilliant film Moulin Rouge. Sporting Jeans and a simple red top, Leona doesn't quite do the song justice by singing "Voulez Vous Chantez Avec Moi", would you like to sing with me, instead of the infamous "Voulez Vous Couchez Avec Moi", would you like to sleep with me? Anyway, she certainly gives Christina competition!

I Will Always Love You - An old Dolly Parton and Whitney Classic!

Originally written by Dolly Parton, and later revived and slowed down by Whitney for the film 'The Bodyguard', Leona takes it on, and you have to surely agree that Leona's voice is best suited to the slow ballads rather than the upbeat songs. However, we think that a woman's voice 'breaks' and develops, so Leona's voice should develop more deep-down power for the more up-beat songs! Overall though, another great performance!
