Spirit, the debut album by Leona Louise Lewis, and what a corker it is! The album Spirit was put together after winning the reality show, “The X Factor”. Leona's album was released in the UK by Syco Music in November 2007, and the rest of the world quickly followed!
Leona explains she named the album Spirit because “it is my heart and soul and the voice within that says everything is possible.”. Unbelievably, Spirit has debuted at number one in seven countries, including Ireland, New Zealand, Germany, Australia and the United Kingdom.
Leona's Spirit sold by the bucket-load, outselling the Spice Girls' by two-to-one and was the fastest selling debut album in the UK ever! It was reported to sell at a staggering rate of 200 per minute! In Ireland, it entered straight at number one and remained for two weeks, again, breaking a record by being the fastest selling debut album!
I think we all should listen to Simon Cowell when he says Leona's album Spirit, “is as good as early Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston.” This is obviously the beginning of great things for Leona.
